You are going to love this Lemon Anise Bread Recipe. We are going to Zest a lemon creating a wonderful Aniseed
flavor. Before we begin, let’s wash the lemon in warm soapy water. Let it dry.

The lemon zest is the yellow outermost part of the lemon. Surprisingly, this part of the lemon contains excellent flavoring properties. It is the white membrane (the pith) directly below the zest which contains most of the bitterness. When ready to zest, be careful to avoid the pith. Grate only the yellow outermost peel of the lemon.

Ingredients you will need:
3 cup bread flour                                                    1 cup water
2 ½ tsp quick active dry yeast                                2 tbsp melted butter
1/3 cup sugar                                                         1½ tsp crushed anise seed
1 tsp salt                                                                 1 ½ tsp lemon (zest)

Wow! that’s a nice recipe and she made it look so easy. I would have thought the Anise seeds would have taken away from all the other ingredients in the bread, but it seems it blended very nicely.
