Bread Machine – Buttermilk Rye Bread Recipe

This Buttermilk rye bread recipe is sure to be a family favorite.  Rye bread is great for making sandwiches.  Just think, once you’re done here you will have enough bread to pack a lunch all week.   This is the recipe for a 1 ½ pound loaf.  Be sure to check your bread machine owner’s manual to ensure that it can accommodate.

Ingredients you will need:Crumb
2/3 cup water   (warm)                     2/3 cup buttermilk
2 tbsp vegetable oil                         1/3 cup dry mashed potato mix
2 ¼ cups bread flour                       1 ¼ tsp salt
1 cup rye flour                                 2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp caraway seed                         2 tsp active dry yeast

Directions:

2.  Add your water, yeast and sugar to bread pan.  (Note if your owner’s manual specifies a different order when adding ingredients be sure to follow those directions.)
3.  Sprinkle in rye flour then bread flour.
4.  Add mashed potato mix
5.  Add vegetable oil and salt.
6.  Add buttermilk.
7.  Add caraway seed.
8.  Set your machine to basic mode.
9.  Once bread is done, allow to cool on a wire rack.
