Bread making machines are a common fixture in most kitchens these days. Although designed for the entire baking process they can be used for solo functions such as the mixing or kneading of your bread. Bread making machines are great little time savers for the busy family. They come in different loaf sizes with the standard being the 1.5 pound machine. If you do not have your own bread making machine yet, here are a few factors to consider before making your first purchase.

When deciding on a machine for your home, you must first decide on the size of your machine. Do you need a machine that bakes 1.5, 2 pound or larger loaves. This will depend on the size of your family.

The second thing that you will want to be cognizant of is your machine’s settings. Do you prefer your bread chewy, crispy, dark, light etc? Will you need meat loaf or jam settings? Obviously these questions will depend on the families need but it is good to think about it now.

Finally, you need to think about timers, warmers and the ease of cleaning. Timers and Warmers are great features when you would like to have fresh bread waiting for you every morning. Ask yourself is this a feature that you would really use? Last but not least, the cleaning of your machine. How easy will it be to clean your bread machine/bread pan, does it have a non stick surface? These are all important questions that should be considered before making a purchase.

Not everyone will have the same needs when it comes to a bread making machine. As long as you have thought about the choices mentioned above you should be able to narrow it down. Enjoy and happy baking.
