Where White Bread Comes From
White bread is made by using refined white flour.  Refined flour is flour that has had many of its key nutrients, vitamins, and essential dietary fibers removed during the refining process.

Sugar, salt, and chemicals preservatives are added to provide the bread with a longer shelf-life and to ensure that it rises successfully.

White Bread - Negative Health Aspects
-Some studies seem to indicate that white bread increases the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.  The carbohydrates in white bread can cause increased levels of sugar in your bloodstream.  Increased levels of sugar causes the body to release more and more of its regulating hormone – insulin.  An imbalance in the levels of sugar and insulin in your body can place you at a higher risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

-White breads have been proven to raise the levels of “bad” cholesterol in your body.  This in turn, can lead to cardiovascular diseases including blood clots and high blood pressure.

-The consumption of large amounts of white bread can lead to colon discomfort and an inability to effectively remove waste from your system.  This in turn, can lead to Irritable Bowel Syndrome and even colon cancer.

With your own bread making machine you can control not only the type but also the quality of bread in your household.

Wow!! Thanks! This was very helpful information about white bread. I grew up eating white bread and our family never really ate any other bread such as wheat.

To this day I eat white bread, but not as much. Certainly after reading this I will make more attempts to cut down and eat alternatives.
